Scenario 1: Build category system before new client onboarding

Situation: About to manage products for a new client and need to establish a category system beforehand.

How to do it:

1. Plan the categories: Food, Beverages, Daily Necessities
2. Go to "Categories"
3. Click "New"
4. Enter "Food"
5. Click "Create"
6. Repeat steps 3-5 to add other categories

Result: Category system is ready. Products can be assigned to appropriate categories when added.

Scenario 2: Add a category for a new product line

Situation: A client is adding a new "Pet Supplies" product line and needs a corresponding category.

How to do it:

1. Go to Product Categories list
2. Click "New"
3. Enter "Pet Supplies"
4. Click "Create"

Result: New category is immediately available. You can now assign pet supply products to this category.

2. Feature Guide

The NewProduct Categories feature allows you to create new product categories for organizing products. Once a category is created, you can immediately select it when adding or editing products. Categories are shared by all merchants, ensuring consistent categorization standards.

3.1 FAQ

▪ Is there a character limit for category names?

We recommend keeping names under 20 characters. Names that are too long may not display completely in lists and dropdowns.

▪ Getting a "Name already exists" error?

This means a category with the same name already exists. Confirm whether you need to create a new category or use a different name. You can search the Product Categories list to check existing categories.

▪ Will new categories take effect immediately?

Yes. After clicking "Create" successfully, you can immediately select the new category when adding or editing products.

▪ Can I create multiple categories at once?

File-based bulk import is not supported, but you can use "Save and Add Another" to create categories continuously without returning to the list each time. We recommend planning your category system first, then creating them sequentially.

▪ Can other merchants use categories I create?

Yes. Categories are shared by all merchants within the organization. Any category you create will be available to all merchants.
