1.1 Overview
Material Picking consolidates the material retrieval requests of all work orders. Once a work order is confirmed and its materials are allocated, a picking request for it appears here. You can select one or more requests and generate picking lists in a single batch, so pickers can retrieve the materials needed for processing from the shelves. This is the most efficient place to arrange picking batches across multiple work orders.

Scenario 1: View Work Orders Pending Material Picking
Situation: You want to see which work orders are currently waiting for materials to be picked.
How to do it:
- Go to "Production" → "Material Picking"
- Look for items with "Allocated" status in the list (materials reserved, picking list not generated yet)
- Click the number in the "Work Orders" column to jump to the corresponding work order
Result: Clear view of all work order picking requests waiting to be processed.
Scenario 2: Generate One Picking List for Multiple Work Orders
Situation: Several work orders finished allocation this morning, and you want staff to retrieve all the materials in one trip to reduce walking back and forth.
How to do it:
- Open the Material Picking list
- Check the requests that need picking (multiple selections allowed)
- Click the "Generate Picking List" button
- In the popup, select the "Merchant" (auto-filled when serving a single merchant)
- Click "OK"
Result: The picking list is created and pickers can start retrieving materials from "Picking Lists"; the selected items change to "Processing".
📌 Why aren't picking lists generated automatically? Picking batches are up to the warehouse: you can merge materials from multiple work orders into one picking list and retrieve them in a single trip, or process them in batches — whatever fits your staffing on the floor.
Scenario 3: Track Material Picking Progress
Situation: You want to understand the overall progress of material picking operations.
How to do it:
- Open the Material Picking list
- Check the "Status" column of each item: "Allocated" means waiting for picking, "Processing" means picking in progress, and "Shipped" means materials have been deducted (the work order is completed)
- Click a number to view details
Result: Clear understanding of pending, in-progress, and completed material picking distribution.

Section 3: FAQ
3.1 FAQ
▪ What's the difference between material picking and regular picking lists?
Material picking requests come from work orders rather than sales orders. The generated picking lists work the same way as regular picking, but the retrieved materials are used for processing — they are deducted by the system when the work order is completed instead of being shipped to a customer.
▪ Are picking lists generated automatically?
No. After a work order finishes allocation, check its request on this page and click "Generate Picking List"; you can also click "Create Picking List" directly on a single work order's detail page.
▪ Can I generate picking lists for multiple work orders at once?
Yes. Check multiple requests in the list and click "Generate Picking List". The system creates picking lists covering the selected requests, so pickers can retrieve materials for multiple work orders in one trip.
▪ What happens after material picking is completed?
After picking is completed, go back to the corresponding work order's detail page. A work order in "Processing" status with picking done shows the "Complete" button — click it to deduct the materials and create the finished-goods inbound order.
▪ How do I cancel a generated picking list?
Generated picking lists must be handled in "Picking Lists". They cannot be canceled directly from the Material Picking page.
3.2 Notes
⚠️ Important
- This page only shows picking requests generated by work orders; for regular order picking go to "Picking Lists"
- After picking is completed, return to the work order detail page to complete it — materials are only deducted at completion
- To change picking content, handle the original picking list in "Picking Lists" first, then generate again
