1.1 Overview
The Shipping Rate Cards feature allows you to configure freight calculation rules for different shipping types. You can set tiered rates based on weight or volume, and the system will automatically calculate shipping costs based on package specifications.
Each rate card can have multiple tiers, and the system will automatically match the smallest tier that contains the shipment's weight/volume to calculate the fee.

Section 3: FAQ
Q1: What's the difference between weight-based and volume-based pricing?
| Pricing Mode | Use Case | Calculation Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Weight-based | General merchandise, small items | Actual package weight (kg) |
| Volume-based | Large lightweight items, bulky but light | Package volume (CBM = L×W×H) |
Q2: How does the system select the shipping tier?
The system finds the smallest tier that contains the shipment's weight/volume:
- Example tiers: 0-5kg ($60), 5-10kg ($80), 10-20kg ($100)
- Shipment weight 7kg → matches 5-10kg tier → shipping fee $80
Q3: Can I set both weight and volume tiers?
Each rate card can only use one pricing mode. If you need both pricing methods, create two separate rate cards.
Q4: Can tier ranges overlap?
Not recommended. The system will prioritize the smallest matching tier, and overlapping ranges may cause unexpected billing.
Q5: How do I set up overweight surcharges?
You can add higher tiers after the maximum tier. For example:
- 0-10kg: $100
- 10-20kg: $150
- 20-50kg: $250
Q6: Can rate cards be duplicated?
Currently, direct duplication is not supported. To create a similar rate card, manually add a new one and enter the same tier settings.
Q7: Will modifying a rate card affect existing orders?
No. Shipping fees for existing orders were calculated at creation time. Rate card modifications only affect newly created orders.
Q8: How do I link a rate card to a shipping type?
After creating a rate card, you need to select which rate card to use in the "Shipping Type" or "Shipping Account" settings.
3.2 Notes
- Automatic tier sorting: The system automatically sorts tiers by numeric value
- Check usage before deletion: Rate cards currently in use cannot be deleted
- Recommend complete coverage: When setting tiers, cover all possible weight/volume ranges
- Review rates periodically: Remember to update rate cards when carriers adjust their rates
